Everything works swell for me until. About ane:10 . I have in grey calibration but I don't have that side bar. I'm trying to make the image white while retaining all the shading and details. This is the but video I see that gets me closest but currently I'm stuck at greyness scale and my image is blackness

I make iii identical rectangles - fill all with gradients from a saturated hue to a much less saturated hue. I convert to gray calibration and go to the swatches with ALL 3 selected. When I click on whatsoever swatch, the swatch colorignores the gradients and fills them all with 100% of that swatch color. I've tried information technology both in CMYK and RGB. What am I doing incorrect?

Thank you Alexa, but doesn't work for me. Using Adobe Illustrator 2019. Imported RGB png, embedded, edit colors, converted to grayscale. With paradigm selected, tried to select color swatches to alter color. Nothing happens.

I've done things with different image formats and the final issue is that the method works with JPG format and other formats that embedded images from Re-create/Paste in Adobe Illustrator. However, if y'all embed a linked PNG image, single color swatch selection method won't be working BUT "Accommodate COLORS" is withal be working with PNG images in RGB manner.   The RGB png from Photoshop had a transparent groundwork and it was in 16bit. When importing into Illustrator it looked like a hot mess. Went dorsum into Photoshop, I changed the RGB png to 8bit, did a 'Salve Equally' for the PNG. So followed the steps to convert to grayscale in Ilustrator, applied the swatch and worked. 🤘

Click "Edit original" to edit in Paint for Windows. Afterwards you modify the colour, information technology'll exist a new file

  Thanks for your comment. "Edit Original" works when the epitome is non embedded. For changing colors you have to embed the image. However after changing colors, yous can Save/Export the new file with dissimilar colors and formats.

I find this tutorial useful and I gave this video a like. The only thing I'm annoyed by is the voice over to be honest. Information technology'due south hands more pleasant to me to have written instructions than some kind of a robot vox.

I've washed things with different image formats and the final outcome is that the method works with JPG format and other formats that embedded images from Copy/Paste in Adobe Illustrator. Nevertheless, if you embed a linked PNG image, single colour swatch selection method won't be working BUT "ADJUST COLORS" is still be working with PNG images in RGB mode. Hope things are clear now.   I'chiliad getting the exact aforementioned issue. I did it on 1 image and information technology worked perfectly. The side by side image i tried only converts to grayscale and won't change colour after. Both are raster images.

  Aforementioned, I'm following the steps exactly. In one case it turns to grayscale I'll click on a color swatch and see it on the left toolbar where the fill up/stroke are shown, just the image itself remains grayscale no matter which swatch I choose.
  Are there any settings that I demand to adapt? Does the embedded image demand to be a specific type? I am trying this with an embedded PNG.
